Great Luggage Options for Family Trips

Image
Luggage for Family Travel Away, Large Carry-On I had always thought there was luggage and there was slightly better luggage but really as long as the suitecase rolled and adequately carried my stuff, it was good enough. I had used the "Travel Pro" brand of luggage for years. It had received decent reviews and I saw a lot of flight attendants using it (however, not pilots as my husband never owned Travel Pro, that's whole different story) so I assumed it must be good. I would agree, it was good. It lasted through quite a few vacations without any issues. Then I stumbled upon  Away . This came up as one of those random ads on Facebook and/or Instagram due to all of the travel research I do (you know those Internet stalkers know how to get ya). This made me aware of the brand but then I started seeing more articles about it, I began to notice people at the airport with them and decided to do more research.  When I read Away offers a lifetime warranty on the wheels

Shoes for Travel

Rothy's Women's Sneaker Shoes Maybe I'm the only one that often looks at a vacation as a reason to "need" new shoes? Obviously where we are traveling to has a lot to do with what shoes are needed.  Women's City Sneaker - I have found that with almost any vacation a simple pair of slip-on sneakers come in incredibly handy. I always look for ones that are nice enough to go with jeans but simple enough to go with travel pants or yoga pants. I have used Steve Madden's in the past which are cute but typically only last one summer before they are looking a bit shabby. This year I am upgrading to the  Rothy's  sneaker. It took a lot of consideration as these are above my typical shoe budget at $125 BUT if I can get these to last me even just 2 summers it will equal what I pay for 2 new pairs that wear out quickly. There are lots to love about Rothy's besides how comfortable they are. They are made from recycled water bottles so you can f

Victoria Family Travels

Victoria, BC How to Get There: There are a number of ways to get to Victoria and if you plan it right, it's a fun family adventure all on it's own. We like to combine it with a trip to Seattle for a few reasons: Seattle is a fun place for a family vaca, you can find great deals on flights and we are lucky enough to have wonderful family to visit.  It seems also relatively easy to get to Victoria from Vancouver but that's a trip I need to plan for the future.   Playing games on the Clipper. View of Seattle as we take off on the Clipper  The fastest and easiest way to get from Seattle to Victoria is via the Victoria Clipper . The Clipper departs Seattle right near downtown so it's easy to uber or catch a ride to the dock when staying in Seattle. It then takes you right into Victoria where everything is walkable. So no need to worry about a car. If you find you want a car, you can rent one right in Victoria. The Clipper is about a 2.5 hour boat ride whic

Maine Continued

Maine Continued... This is a continuation of the first Maine post. Where To Eat in Camden/Rockport/Rockland Entertained while waiting in line at Claws Lobster Roll at Claws   Claws - Claws is a little seafood shack in Rocklan. It's known for it's lobster and trust me when I say, order the lobster. My husband ordered something else and was disappointed. I ordered the lobster roll and it was delicious especially with a Maine Blueberry beer to go with it. Claws is only open in the summer months so if you are there in spring or fall be sure to check their website to see if they're open. Boynton-McKay   - If you are looking for breakfast in Camden --GO HERE--! Maybe it's because I wasn't expecting too much from the exterior looks of the restaurant but this was such a delicious breakfast! Their pancakes are amazing, coffee (lattes) amazing, service amazing. I will go here again. Bagel Cafe - We stopped at the bagel cafe for a quick bite to eat befor

Maine

MAINE My husband is from Maine and if it weren't so far from Arizona we would probably go there far more often. Now this was the first trip to Maine we took as a vacation vs. visiting with family. We ended up turning this into a bit of a road trip and extended our trip into Prince Edward Island, Canada. It was such a great trip, I would highly recommend it if you have the time. I will soon have a Prince Edward Island post for more details. Maine is absolutely beautiful in the summer but it books up quickly so this may be a trip you want to plan a bit in advance if you are thinking of going anytime in the month of July. You can still book last minute but you may be limited on choices and pay a higher price. Our plan this trip was to get a little taste of a few different areas in Maine. You will notice we don't spend anytime in Bar Harbor or Acadia National Park. Both my husband and I have been but we are holding off on bringing the kids to those places until they can han
